Clayborn’s story will not be one of loss, but of legacy reimagined
— Anasa Troutman

The Historic Clayborn Temple in Memphis, a sacred civil rights monument, spiritual, economic, and cultural hub of the Memphis community tragically burned down this week. Anasa Troutman stewarded HCT from the hands of outside developers into community ownership and has spent the past 8 years transforming it into a shining example of community economic self-determination.

Clayborn Temple has stood as sacred space across generations. Even now, after the fire that damaged its walls, its spirit and purpose remain unbroken. This is our moment to rise together.
